Invasive Algae Clean-Up

Waikiki Aquarium Invasive Algae Removal
in Celebration of our 113th Birthday

Sunday, March 26th, 2017
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Over 100 volunteers joined us as we celebrated the Waikiki Aquarium’s 113th birthday and helped in rehabilitating this iconic Hawaiian landmark – Waikiki Beach!

Check-in started at 8:45 a.m. by the big Banyan tree behind the back fence of the aquarium (Natatorium side). Volunteers collected over 400 pounds of invasive algae.

Stay tuned for our next clean-up.

Basic information: Volunteers will want to bring their own reef shoes, gloves, and water gear – goggles, masks, fins, snorkels, towels and sunblock…but, you don’t have to go in the water – there are jobs on ‘land’.

All ages are welcome, however minors should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
