
Join the Waikīkī Aquarium’s Plastic Free July Beach Cleanup at Sherwood Beach Park! Plastic use can be seen all around us – especially in plastic waste found on our coastlines. Plastic Free July is a global movement that encourages communities all around the world to reduce their plastic usage. Bring your ʻOhana to learn more about the effects of plastic pollution and help reduce microplastics and trash found on our beaches.

Meeting Address: Sherwood Beach, Waimānalo

Check-in anytime between 10:00AM and 11:30AM. Take the exit off of Kalanianaole Highway into Hunānāniho. Do not turn at the first left; stay straight until the parking lot. Walk toward the beach and look for the blue Waikīkī Aquarium tent to check in and pick up cleanup supplies.
All adult participants must agree to and sign the General UH Volunteer Activities Consent, Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement upon check in at event. All minors (under 18 years old) must be accompanied by an adult and must have the Minors General UH Volunteer Activities Parent/Legal Guardian Consent, Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement signed and completed upon check in at event.
Please bring a matching government issued photo ID or UH student ID per registered adult. This will be verified at check in!
Supplies such as buckets, bags, sifters, and tongs will be provided. Gloves can be provided to those who do not bring their own reusable pair. Remember to bring your own water and reef-safe sunscreen!
If you are interested in participating in a group photo, please meet back at the check in stand at 11:30 AM. You are welcome to go back out to continue cleaning after the photo is taken until 12:00PM.
At the end of the event, all rubbish will be collected and weighed, and participants will check out at the tent. (Please donʻt dump rubbish or leave before coming back to the check in stand)
