THE WAIKIKI AQUARIUM CONTINUES ITS DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIES
SAVING MONK SEALS
Dr. Charles Littnan
NOAA Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program
The Waikiki Aquarium will continue its Distinguished Lecture Series with Dr. Charles Littnan of the NOAA Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program. Hawaiian monk seals are found only in the Hawaiian Archipelago and like many of the state’s native species they are in dire need of conservation. Dr. Littnan’s lecture, Saving Monk Seals: Reflections on 10 Years of Conservation and the Future of Hawaii’s Native Seal, will highlight research and conservation efforts over the last few decades to improve the state of endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals. His innovative methods of public education on complex conservation issues have been essential to achieving progress.
