Explore the Beauty of Koi at the 11th Annual International Koi Show

We’d like to invite you to explore the world of koi in a new way this year in our main event titled, You Be the Judge.

You will start by judging koi (tank by tank) and evaluate each one’s beauty. Next, world-famous Japanese breeders, Mr. Shigeru Mano and Mr. Takayoshi Omosako will share how they judge koi and explain each koi’s beautiful traits. This is a hands-on seminar that will definitely expand your view of the koi world.

Saturday, February 17th
  • 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.: "You Be the Judge" seminar with Japanese breeders Mr. Mano from Dainichi Koi Farm and Mr. Omosako from Omosako Koi Farm
  • 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: "Koi Husbandry" mini-seminar
  • 1:00 pm: Judging seminar by Mr. Mano and Mr. Omosako

Sunday, February 18th
  • 10:00 a.m.: "Koi Handling" seminar by Joan Fujimoto and Hide Kodama
  • 11:00 a.m.: "Koi Varieties" seminar by Taro Kodama
  • 12:00 p.m.: "History of Koi" speaker TBA


Mr. Shigeru Mano


Mr. Shigeru Mano from Dainichi Koi Farm is a world famous koi breeder in Japan. Inheriting the legendary koi farm from his father, he has bred many award-winning koi including grand champions at the All Japan Koi Show. The farm's specialties are Showa and Kohaku.

Mr. Takayoshi Omosako


Mr. Takayoshi Omosako—when it comes to Shiro Utsuri, the Omosako Koi Farm is second to none. The combination of lacquer black and snow white is nothing but breathtaking. Mr. Omosako is the second generation breeder of the farm.


Aquarium admission is $12 for non-members; $8 for Kama’aina and military with ID; $5 for senior citizens and juniors ages 4 to 12, and free for children 3 and under and Friends of the Waikīkī Aquarium (FOWA).
